Fellowship HallThe whole community is invited to join us for a first-ever Health & Wellness Fair at John Wesley United Methodist Church Saturday, September 28th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. There will be over 15 different vendors/booths to visit to learn about nutrition, fitness, community resources, mobility services, etc. Free entry and come and go as you wish. See you then!
The greater Falmouth community is invited to join the members of John Wesley United Methodist Church in celebrating the installation of its new Allen organ with a Dedication Recital to be held on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 7:00 pm. A freewill offering will benefit the Organ Maintenance Fund. The evening’s guest performer will be Robert Potterton III, a native New Englander and active composer/arranger, keyboardist, and educator for the last 20 years. Since 2015, he has served as Organist & Choirmaster at historic Christ Church (Episcopal) in Fitchburg, MA.
Among the many features of the new instrument is its ability to play six different digitally sampled great pipe organs from all over the world, including American, English, French, and German. These will be demonstrated in the recital with a wide-ranging program of works by J.S. Bach, François Couperin, Herbert Howells, Sigfrid Karg-Elert, Chad Statin, and Charles-Marie Widor. A highlight of the evening will be the premiere of an original setting of Psalm 150 by Mr. Potterton, which was commissioned to showcase the organ as well as the church’s Chancel and Handbell Choirs.
John Wesley United Methodist Church is an active community of faith whose mission is to “Love God…Love Others…Serve the World”. Under the leadership of Pastor Rebecca Mincieli, they engage in worship, fellowship, educational, and service activities throughout the year. The organ was installed by G. Paul Music of Worcester, MA, New England’s Allen Organ distributor, on June 26, 2019. The church’s director of music ministries, Linda Brouder, and pianist/organist, Mirela Chisbora, are excited about the possibilities that the new organ opens up for the church and the greater community.
